Add Impact: Use Specific Tools for Sports Marketing

Marketing efforts can really be enhanced on the internet by using photos, video and a blog.   I think that is particularly true with sports marketing where you can view “how-to” videos, gain motivation through community, build interesting conversations and easily make announcments about competitive results.

Here are two examples of sports and fitness-related organizations involving women I work with that effectively use internet marketing tools like blogs, websites, video and photo gallerys to market their activities.

• The Personal Fitness and Nutrition website of UFit2 is a fitness organization with a great personal training, fitness and nutrition blog filled with how-to’s and tips.  The blog is co-authored by my friend Sandy Donaldson, who is training for a weighlifting bodybuilding competition in October.  Sandy is my age — but one look at her physical appearance and you’d see she is anything but typical!  Check out her bicep! She tells how she did it on the UFit2 blog.  Extremely motivational and competent, her story is really inspirational. Because this is a real niche sport, having a blog and a website really increases the reach to a very targeted audience.
• The Northeast Ohio Rock and Roller Derby Girls is the Akron Roller Derby Team. This year is their first real season — May through September.  I’ve never seen a real roller derby bout and am looking forward my first one on August 9th at Pinnacle Sports in Medina.  Here’s a taste of the action in this Akron Roller Derby video.  Rachel Martin is one of the team members on the Rock ‘n Roller Girls and also a team member at Marketing Resources & Results. Hey, it looks like fun!  And I understand they’re looking for more team members.
