Akron Beacon Journal On Line to Accept Content from Blogging Community

by Chris Brown on Monday, February 11, 2008

According to a 2007 press release from Clickability, the Akron Beacon Journal will begin accepting content from bloggers.

Perhaps many other newspaper on line editions around the country are already accepting “citizen journalism” content, but none that strikes so close to home to me as the Beacon Journal.

Ohio.com will continue to be the leading online source of news and information in Northeast Ohio, but it also plans to embrace community publishing by providing destinations for citizen journalists to publish content. Under the Ohio.com brand, readers will be able to contribute articles, blogs, and opinions as defined by editors through cmPublish.

Ohio.com has been using the Knight Ridder content management system, but did a site relaunch with the Clickability system..

Hear that ABC?

I guess I hadn’t realized that they were supplementing their reporting with the blogging community.

I do believe this is a smart move on their part! It’s amazing how many stories break over blogs these days!
