Building Awareness — Pick an Entry Point

by Chris Brown on Friday, March 28, 2008

To build awareness with an audience, pick an enty point.

Select a topic and tell a short memorable story.

If you try to tell them everything important in one initial meeting, you’ll often overwhelm or confuse them.

For example, when you first meet someone, you don’t try to give them your life story. Don’t try to do to it when you are telling your organization’s story either.

If you are networking at an event, like a trade show, awards reception, or conference, it is probably even more important, since they will be meeting many people that day.

What a great little “Friday” reminder. We’re all guilty of forgetting and doing the “tell too much” at some point or another in our careers.
