Everytime I turn around it seems there are more initials and terms in Internet Marketing. Here’s a few I compiled with my version of their definition.
- SEO - Search Engine Optimization - about 60 different things you can do to help your website get ranked higher in Google, Yahoo and MSN.
- SEM - Search Engine Marketing - beyond SEO - having a presence on the internet that helps convert readers into customers by moving them to action.
- E releases - electronic press releases (easier for the editor and reporter to pick up your story because it’s a simple “copy/cut/paste “and then edit for them.
- I media - internet media - beyond traditional media of newspapers, magazines, tv and radio but blogs, websites, podcasts, videocasts.
- E media - electronic media - beyond internet media to ipods and mobile media cell phones.
What terms have you recently heard or discovered?

Here’ s one. RSS feed ads - really simple syndication ads. Advertise your website on feeds. I have yet to try it myself though.
Yes, I should have had RSS as one of the terms, although I don’t really see it as advertising. To me, RSS is more like subscribing to an online newsletter in a special reader.
Some businesses may use their newsletter like an ad, so it may make sense that they view it as an SEO or SEM tool.
Does anyone else disagree or have more to add about it?
Chris - I agree with you about RSS, but I was actually referring to RSS feed advertising services, like Pheedo.

Thats good to see the main different between the SEO SEM and others. I have never got so brief intro of this info. I feel RSS is most important factor for internet world.

Internet marketing is a growing industry, everyday new and more product categories seem to consider the use of internet marketing strategies. Amzing how a few years back, these strategies were considered as alternative solutions, today there are plenty of products and services that use internet marketing as their main strategy. I’m sure there will be more of these acronyms to come, the more people use internet marketing the more we’ll all get familiar to these new set of terminologies.
