During the Color Marketing Groupâs conference this past fall, blue was announced as the color for 2013. The colors are proprietary to the group, so the photo that you see above is one that is okay to use, because it features the blue shade that was actually the color for 2009.
You see, the RIGHT color is big business.

For 2013, the blue color is described, not as election blue, but more like ocean blue. Blue with a bit of green. As in the environment. As in RE-Blue. (REcycle, REduce, REuse)
During the conference over 200 color experts gathered in Miami to discuss new up and coming colors and the conference also marked the 50 year milestone for the color group. To find out more about colors as a marketing tool, visit their website at www.colormarketing.org.
If you really want to know the actual shade of the blue for 2013, you can buy their study… or join the organization. Their motto “Color sells…and the right color sells more.”
Editorâs note: To me, the 2009 blue in the photo above and the 2013 blue in the color marketing groupâs blog is very close in hue. Perhaps itâs my browser, but more likely it is my eyes, which donât see all the distinct shades that many people can. Thatâs why I hire a graphic designer and a creative director to help me with the subtle differences in color.
Perfect timing. I am consulting with a company that is looking for the correct color scheme for their new website and literature. Thanks Chris

Hmmm. Looks like the Pantone doesnât agree with the Color Marketing Group… they think Emerald is the color of 2013:

It will be interesting to see who “wins”.
