The Best New Product Concepts Are Born from Problems

by Chris Brown on Thursday, March 14, 2013

Take one problem. Add some ideas. Talk to a few people who know how to get things done.  Take a risk.

It’s the beginning of a recipe for a great concept for  new products and services.

I recently was one of the judges for a business concept competition at Kent State University where nine teams of students presented their concepts in an effort to win a cash award to use toward their new concept.

It was difficult to make a decision because of some really great concepts. But one thread wove throughout all the concepts.  When you product or service solves a big problem, you’ve got a winner.

What is a big problem that your customers are dealing with that you can solve?
